The Club

Situated just 7 kilometres south of Navan, Co.Meath at the base of the Hill of Tara, Royal Tara Golf Club was the venue for the All Ireland Cups & Shields Finals in 2013 and Ladies All Ireland Championships (2009) and has staged many other Youth Internationals and Championships.

It is a tree-lined 27-hole layout, offering a haven of peace for member and visitor alike. The mature beech, oak and ash trees, combined with the addition of vibrant floral colours, give an aura of beauty and tranquillity .

History of Royal Tara

The Club started life in Navan in 1906. It moved to its present location beside the Hill of Tara in 1923. In the mid 60s the Club expanded to 18 holes, built a clubhouse and was named Royal Tara Golf Club. In the late 1980s the facility was extended from 18 holes to 27 holes. The outstanding re-development of the course by Des Smyth and Declan Branigan, featured sand-based greens for all-year-round playing. In 2000 a new Clubhouse was built to provide all the facilities which modern day golfers expect of their Club. It continues to be one of the country’s finest private club complexes .

The Clubhouse built to the highest standard, with commanding views of the course and surrounding countryside has been admired greatly by members and all visitors.

Our Resident Head PGA Professional Mr John Byrne has an impressively well stocked golf shop which provides all golf services.

John and his assistant PGA Professionals, are available to provide tuition and custom fitting at any time by request.

Restaurant & Bar

The club house hosts a 100 seat restaurant  with exceptional views of the 9th & 18th greens.  Al fresco dining on one of the two balconies is a treat in the summer.

The restaurant has gained a large following of non - golfing patrons at weekends who visit regularly for the quality and value that it offers.
